Writing my blog after a long time, I think so I was busy.....
Well it won't be correct to say that I was busy rather I must say was doing time pass and pretending that I am busy, this is the case with most of us. We pretend more and actual work is less.
Now as my heading of this topic says "VOYAGE", so I wanted to share with you all my journey of final year project. Though the picture sayd it all(frustration and anger). Well in this picture its Harshit Lamba and me(left to right).
As a part of my BE Final year project I am working on the "Mobile GRID". Took a long time to get to this topic but I think it was worth the wait. Wasted a few starting months to just decide the field on which we(project partners) all agree to work.
At last we started our voyage. Though in between we had to change or rather must say had to modify our definition. Then came the RESEARCH Phase must say the most boring and hectic and one of the toughest part, as if your research is not good your project is sure to fail. And in between very drastic thing happened to us one of the project partners(namely Santosh Kumara) said, he's not interested in research work and won't be working with us in research etc but will in implementation. He also informed us that he will working on MBA so has to go to attend coaching etc. At that point of time we(me & Harshit Lamba) came to know that it's we two who will have to do the whole work. Personally speaking I was happy and tensed at the same time. Happy as less the number of cooks better the food, and tensed whether we will be able to complete it with less manpower.
After a long and dull phase came another one LEARNING Phase. Must say spent a lot of time in this phase and still in doubt what we actually had to learn.
Now we sat down to design the architecture of MOBILE GRID as nobody before us had worked on this topic and knowing this we were feeling really proud that we will be the first ones to implement it, but when the implementation part started we came to know that there is now actual hardware(we would have to buy a few PDA....no money) where we could show the implementation of our GRID. So after a lot of discussions with our project guide(Prof. R.B.Ingle) and a lot of fight among us(me & Harshit Lamba) we decided that we will be simulating the whole thing.
So had to start the designing part again of Discrete Event Mobile Grid Simulation. Had to visit Prof. R. B.Ingle many times before he gave us a green signal to go ahead.
We where happy that we were on schedule so started the first module i.e installing Globus Grid Toolkit. Ohhh my God it took us around one month to get it done. We were really happy that at last we had done it, but who knew that the globus people won't be sending us the Simple CA(Certificate Authority) required to run the grid. So our one month's work got wasted.
Seeing the time we decided to get to the second module of the project that was the Simulation part.
With the help of the designs and the architecture created we knew that we would be able to do it and that God we are successful. We started by distributing the work among ourselves(me & Harshit Lamba). I was assigned the GUI work and Lamba started with the firing file work(you learn Simulation to know what firing file is). Between this we both(me & Lamba) had to visit our homes as because of Globus installation we couldn't utilize our holidays. After a much needed break from the project work we fully recharged to start the work again. But surely it took us sometime to get into flow. Slowly slowly we worked towards the completion.
At last our third partner Mr.Santosh Kumara comes back after all his interviews and GD's. So what should be his contribution.... after serious discussion between ma and Harshit we decided to assign him the completion of the first module.
Now the countdown has begun for the InC. The integration of my and Harshit's code began. Before starting we thought it would be very easy but maximum work had to done in this integration.
At last integration done GUI working fine firing file working great. Now comes the log file and the resource allocation part. again divided the work log file done by Harshit and resource allocation part done by me. now integration was done by Harshit.
Sign of relief atlast done wit coding part. Testing phase is still there. Me working on presentation part right now, hope it goes well. But still completion of the Globus grid is left, hope it is also done till finals.
